Skunked

This is what is happening at our house right now.

Have you ever smelled a newly skunked dog?? How about two newly skunked dogs? I don't recommend it. Think of a moldy garbage can filled with urine, rotting onions and garlic and you will have an idea of what my dogs and my house smell like right now.

Last night Pepe Le Pew managed to sneak in under our fence and of course the dogs had to take care of the intrusion ASAP. Both of them got it right in the face and over their entire backsides.  Thomas and I were up well past our bedtime bathing the dogs in a mix of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap.  Then we had to clean the bathroom, because you can just imagine what the tub looked and smelled like after bathing two huskies in it. GAH!

Thankfully, it seems we got most of the smell off of them. The vet said not to use tomato juice as it will only temporarily get the smell out and it would eventually come back with a vengeance. The trick if (here is your PSA for the day) to neutralize the oils the skunk left behind with the above mentioned mixture.

It's never a dull moment at the Folger house.
